Between Books
On February 22nd Greg Schauer announced the closing of his bookstore: Between Books. Greg has made his little shop a focal point of the community for almost 34 years, weathering the recession and competition. This closing not only has an impact on the field of small bookstores but also has a personal impact because Greg is a family friend and was best man at my parents wedding, who met at Between Books. Throughout the years he has been able to provide whoever walks in his door with the perfect book, whether it be sci-fi, fantasy, comedy, horror, or just the plain weird. I hope that you will take some time out of your day to visit his store at 2703 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE, before he is gone.

I will miss it so much! Well written!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the compliment, and there are other good independently owned bookstores such as the Hockessin Bookshelf in Hockessin, DE; or Around Again Books on Marsh Road in Wilmington, DE.
DeleteThat store was my child hood.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Between Books was the place where many of us spent our childhood, luckily Greg hopes to spend some time off over the summer and try to restart in late summer or fall. He may be in a different building, but Greg and his wisdom of books will still be around.
